Forty participants, six days and a wonderful surprise: On 29 July through 3 August, the 6th Regional Meeting with experts from Latin America and the Caribbean took place at PTB.
Topics related to sustainability and cooperation were on the agenda as Working Group 9.33 started off the first expert dialogue since 2016. In a friendly atmosphere, 19 experts and 18 PTB employees were able to animatedly talk and ask questions such as, “How can we improve the sustainability of our projects?” and “How can we coordinate our measures at bilateral and regional levels?” and “Which adjustments do we need to make to our cooperation approach to make better use of the quality infrastructure’s potential for development in the region?” The project teams had a lot of opportunity to thoroughly discuss the hurdles and successes of the project work. The experts’ visit was rounded off with talks with scientists of PTB’s laboratories. In divisions with focus areas like wind power, LEDs and solar cells, the participants received answers to all of their questions about the challenges of measuring parameters which are relevant to the energy-supply industry and climate protection. The successful Regional Meeting was concluded with an agreement of concrete steps for further open and successful cooperation.
A special surprise at the meeting fit perfectly with the theme of sustainability: Right on time for the Regional Meeting, the apple tree which the group had planted jointly at the last expert meeting two years ago had ripe, red fruit. Could there be a better symbol of successful cooperation in LAC countries?
